This round trip takes you out of Salzburg past the Fuschlsee lake, where the former hunting lodge of the Prince Bishops was built, now home to a luxury hotel. Explore the Mozart village of St. Gilgen, where Mozart's mother was born, and then enjoy a 25-minute boat ride to St. Wolfgang (the boat ride is included in the price from 27 April to 27 October). Upon arrival, your tour guide will take you into the pilgrimage church, where you can admire the famous Gothic altarpiece by Michael Pacher. There will then be time for coffee and cakes on the terrace of the famous “White Horse Inn”. The journey back to Salzburg takes you past the legendary Krottensee with Hüttenstein castle, and then along the side of the Mondsee lake.

This excursion takes you from Salzburg through the Salzkammergut & Bad Ischl to Hallstatt. The spa town of Bad Ischl is famous for being the imperial summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth (Sisi). Since 1997 the region around Hallstatt has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your 2-hour stay there will give you the chance to visit this romantic little town, situated on the shores of Lake Hallstatt. You can also visit the Bone House with its hand-painted skulls, or the World Heritage museum. Your journey back takes you through Abentau, Russbach and Gosau. Lake Gosau is famous for its views of the Dachstein mountains.

The fascinating life of the young nun Maria von Trapp and her singing family became a world-famous hit when the film was made in 1965, with Julie Andrews in the leading role of Maria. The songs from the film “The Sound of Music” are famous all over the world. On the guided Sound of Music Tour® by Panorama Tours, you are driven to the original filming locations for the “Sound of Music”. The Sound of Music Tour® is only available in English!

Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest)
The Eagle's Nest Tour takes you from the Mirabellplatz over the alpine pass into neighbouring Bavaria, to the Obersalzberg mountain. There you transfer into specially modified buses that take you up the 6.5 km long, 4 m wide road, with a gradient of 22%. For the final stage up to the Eagle's Nest, you have to go through a 124 m long tunnel and up in a lift built inside the rock.

Once you arrive on the plateau, a stunning view of the Alps awaits you. You can learn about the high-alpine fauna and flora and wish one another “Berg Heil” at the nearby summit cross on top of the Kehlstein rock.
Before returning to Salzburg, you have the opportunity to visit the picturesque village of Berchtesgaden.
Eagle's Nest Tour departures: daily between 9 May and 31 October. Duration: approx. 4.5 hours

Eisriesenwelt (Ice Caves)
Visit the biggest ice cave in the world, or the more than 900 year-old Hohenwerfen Castle. Experience one of the natural wonders of the Alps - the Ice Caves in Werfen. Accompanied by an experienced tour guide, you will explore the underground glacier world, marvelling at its size and the fascinating ice formations. After driving up the mountain road followed by a 20-Minute walk, you reach the cable-car that will take you up to the entrance to the caves. You then have to walk for a further 30 minutes to reach the actual entrance, where a trained guide will meet you and take you on a circular tour of the world's largest ice cave. You will need to wear warm clothing and good walking shoes for this trip. We must also point out that you will have to climb about 1700 steps in the course of the tour! Important: The Ice Caves Tour only takes place between 1 May and 26 October.

Hohenwerfen Castle

Not far from the Ice Caves, there is also the chance to visit Hohenwerfen Castle, one of the best preserved late mediaeval castles in the region. Daily guided tours and an impressive falconry display (at 3.15 p.m.) will make this excursion an unforgettable experience.

The highlight of this tour is a visit to the Königssee lake, which nestles among steep mountain peaks. Probably the most famous and distinctive mountain in this region is the mystical Watzmann. After allowing plenty of time to admire the lake, this round trip takes you back to the little town of Berchtesgaden, where you will have the opportunity to sample a few Bavarian specialities.
